It is claimed Tottenham Hotspur could deprive West Ham United of another of their targets.
It is claimed that Spurs ‘could yet deprive the Irons of yet another target’, after Slaven Bilic’s side surrendered their pursuit of Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud.
Bayer Leverkusen striker Javier Hernandez
And that is one of two problems said to be facing West Ham in their quest to bring the Bayer Leverkusen player back to English football – the other being Hernandez’s £140,000 wage demands, which would reportedly ‘shatter’ the wage structure in place at the London Stadium.
Tottenham are also thought to have similar salary restrictions in place, but having scored 136 goals in 345 games at club level Hernandez could be worth investing in, especially at the £13 million fee being speculated.
Having said that, West Ham are arguably in greater need than than Spurs, for whom Harry Kane has scored 94 goals from his last 139 games – often from a lone striker’s role.
The Hammers have failed to land any of their top striker targets since the start of last summer, settling for Simone Zaza and Jonathan Calleri last time out – both of whom barely featured under Bilic and have since moved on.
