Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose recently said he wanted to stay.

According to The Times, Tottenham Hotspur still ‘expect’ to cash in on defender Danny Rose.

Rose insisted he wanted to stay at the club last week, following a season of speculation over his future.

His campaign did not go as he liked; Rose missed the early part of the season through injury and found it difficult to dislodge Ben Davies from Tottenham’s starting line-up.

The Times claims, referencing Tottenham’s transfer budget this summer, that they could have £150 million to spend.

Yet it insists this is a figure which is contingent on, ‘the expected sale of several players, including Toby Alderweireld and Danny Rose.’

Rose, 27, did make England’s World Cup squad, despite starting only nine Premier League games.

It is unclear at this stage whether he is pencilled in as a starter.

Just last week he said he expects to be playing for Spurs next season.

He told SkySports: “Pre-season; come back and hopefully me and Ben [Davies] start from scratch and we start again and work hard to nail that number one spot.”

A strong World Cup showing for Spurs could spark interest in his signature, and if a big money offer comes in, chairman Daniel Levy could find it difficult to resist.
