Manchester City have been linked with Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld.

It has been reported that Tottenham are refusing to relax their strict wage structure, and that there are growing concerns that they could be forced to sell the defender in the summer of 2018.
The Belgium international central defender, who has been on the books of Tottenham since the summer 2015, reportedly earns £50,000 per week at Tottenham at the moment.

“At the age of 28, Alderweireld knows this could be the last big contract of his career and is looking for a deal north of the Tottenham’s current £110,000-per-week wage ceiling,” adds the report in The Daily Mail.
Worry for Tottenham Hotspur?
Alderweireld is one of the best central defenders in the Premier League and in the world, and it would be a bitter disappointment if Spurs have to sell him next summer due to wage issues.
Tottenham’s recent bad form has coincided with the 28-year-old centre-back’s spell on the sidelines, and it is clear that he is a key figure in Mauricio Pochettino’s team.

True, Spurs have Davinson Sanchez and Juan Foyth, but both of them are very young and are still developing.
Signing for Manchester City next summer could appeal to Alderweireld, who would not only earn a lot of money, but he would also get to play under Pep Guardiola.
