According to Goal, Tottenham are now favourites to sign Djed Spence, who is also said to be a target for Arsenal and Liverpool.

What’s the story?

Well, the 21-year-old has been superb for Nottingham Forest this term, as he enjoys a second season-long loan from Middlesbrough.

Spence has attracted plenty of Premier League interest as a result of his fine form in the Championship, and Spurs are now said to be leading the race.

That was according to Goal, although it was the Northern Echo who claimed that Arsenal and Liverpool are also keen to sign the right-back.

Spence – who is valued at £15m – is even attracting admiring glances from Bayern Munich, which speaks volumes about how talented he is.

Goal believe Tottenham are fronting the queue for the Englishman, who they even submitted a bid for during the January transfer window.

So far this season, Spence has made 32 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals while also recording three assists.

Tottenham must beat Arsenal and Liverpool to Djed Spence

If there’s one position Tottenham need to strengthen, it’s the right-back department.

Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty have both failed to impress in that position, and in truth, it has been an issue since Kieran Trippier was sold.

Seeing as Antonio Conte relies a lot on his wing-backs to make his philosophy work, Spurs need to have an effective option in that area.

Spence would be that man, and at the age of 21, he has plenty of time on his side to get even better – especially under a coach like the Italian.
