The Liverpool Echo have published a report alleging to show a leaked email from Liverpool CEO Billy Hogan to the staff at the club after the Reds joined the Super League.
As we all know, Liverpool announced their plans to join the breakaway competition last Sunday, and on Monday morning, Liverpool staff reportedly found an email in their inboxes from Hogan explaining the club’s decision.
“The Super League will be the future of European football,” Hogan reportedly wrote to the Liverpool staff.
“And if we want to continue our journey of being a sustainable Club with ambition to grow and continue winning trophies then we should absolutely be part of that process and have a seat at the table rather than outside that group.”
The email itself isn’t all that interesting, but what is interesting is that Billy Hogan sent this message.
Let’s not forget, John W Henry personally apologised to Hogan in his video statement last week, claiming that his work was unfairly disrupted.
However, this email would seem to suggest that Hogan was well behind the idea of joining the Super League.
Of course, Hogan could have just been doing Henry’s bidding, acting as a mouthpiece for FSG, but the alleged leaked email does make for interesting reading.
