Queens Park Rangers parted company with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink on Saturday.
According to a report in The Sun, Queens Park Rangers owner Tony Fernandes had text Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink suggesting that the Loftus Road side’s current squad should be challenging for promotion, just days before he sacked the Dutch manager.
QPR let Hasselbaink go, following a 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest in their most recent match.
The R’s are stuck in a mid-table position in the Championship table, and the writing was reportedly on the wall for Hasselbaink days before he left Loftus Road.

Fernandes apparently feels that QPR should be challenging for the top six, with the players that they have at their disposal.
QPR have won just two of their last 12 matches in all competitions, with frustrations rising around the London club.
QPR are now six points away from the play off spots, and their slide down the Championship table has been alarming.

QPR are next in action against Norwich City in two weeks’ time, after the international break.
Paul Clement and Tim Sherwood are currently the bookies’ favourites to land the R’s job.
