Report claims Sunderland interest in Wolves’ Ben Marshall

Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Ben Marshall has been linked with Sunderland in the January transfer window.

Sunderland are interested in signing Ben Marshall from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the January transfer window, according to The Sunderland Echo.

It has been reported that the Black Cats are leading the race for the 26-year-old Wolves winger.

Chris Coleman’s side are reportedly hopeful of securing the services of Marshall on loan until the end of the season.

Marshall, who can also operate as a right-back, has not featured since November 9 and has made only one start in the Championship so far this season.

The winger has been on the books of Wolves since January 2017 when he joined from Blackburn Rovers when Paul Lambert – now the manager of Stoke City in the Premier League – was in charge of the Wanderers.

Sunderland are struggling for survival in the Championship at the moment, and signing a player of Marshall’s quality is only going to enhance their chances of not dropping down to League One at the end of the season.

It has also been reported by The Sunderland Echo that Sunderland are keen on signing at least one striker before next Tuesday’s match against Birmingham City.
