Sunderland are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United-owned Aston Villa goalkeeper Sam Johnstone in the summer transfer window.

Sunderland are interested in signing Sam Johnstone from Manchester United in the summer transfer window, according to The Sun.
Johnstone, who is 24 years of age and plays as a goalkeeper, is currently on loan at Championship club Aston Villa.
The former England Under-20 international’s current contract with United runs until June 2018, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
According to The Sun, Johnstone is on the radar of Sunderland manager David Moyes.
Good signing?
Jordan Pickford is Sunderland’s first-choice goalkeeper at the moment, but the 23-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Black Cats in the summer transfer window.
West Ham United, Arsenal, Everton, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur all are interested in Pickford, according to The Sun.
If the 23-year-old does leave Sunderland in the summer, then Johnstone would be a good signing for the Black Cats.
Johnstone is playing well at Villa at the moment, and since he would not be able to feature regularly for United next season, he could be convinced to switch to the Stadium of Light.
