Stoke City have been linked with Brentford’s Romaine Sawyers.

According to a report in the Stoke Sentinel, Stoke City are looking at Brentford’s Romaine Sawyers as a potential replacement for Joe Allen should the Welsh midfielder move on this summer.
Allen opted to remain at the Bet365 Stadium as Stoke suffered relegation to the Championship, but the club’s failure to return to the Premier League at the first attempt could see him move on.
The Mirror reported in recent weeks how Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers have been monitoring his progress over the season, while The Telegraph also cite West Ham United and Watford as potential suitors.
Allen cost Stoke a reported £13 million from Swansea City, and it has been reported by the Daily Mail that they rejected a £25 million bid from West Ham for him back in early 2018.
Losing Allen would be a blow for Stoke, but former West Bromwich Albion man Sawyers has been a key performer for Brentford in recent seasons and can play in several midfield roles.

The 27-year-old is entering the final year of his contract at Brentford therefore the Bees may not be in a strong position to demand a hefty fee for the St Kitts and Nevis ace.
It is mentioned in the Stoke Sentinel how Stoke boss Nathan Jones is a fan of Sawyers, yet any move for him may only happen if the club lose Allen as the Potters seek to play a diamond formation next season.
