It has been reported that Davis hopes to be back in Glasgow this week in order to join Ibrox club Rangers.
Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is also claimed to be desperate for the 33-year-old to join his team in the January transfer window.
According to The Daily Record, Davis has been on the phone to Rangers central defender and Northern Ireland international defender Gareth McAuley regarding a spare room.
Southampton are also reported to be ready to let the former Aston Villa and Fulham midfielder leave for free next month.

Good signing for Rangers?
Davis is a very good midfielder who can do a good job in Scotland, and the 33-year-old will be a good signing for Rangers in the January transfer window, especially if the Gers are able to secure his services on a free transfer.
Rangers are very much in the race for the Scottish Premiership title this season, and a player of Davis’s quality and calibre is going to enhance their chances.
