Warnock brought the defender to Cardiff City after his Leeds United deal was cancelled.
The former Leeds United defender Sol Bamba is in line to succeed another ex-White, Neil Warnock, as Cardiff City manager, according to Wales Online.
The newspaper has learned that Bamba – who hopes to achieve the UEFA A licence qualification required to manage at Championship level in May next year – could be in the pool of potential candidates to replace the retiring Warnock next summer.
It adds that the veteran boss – whose Leeds spell failed to coincide with that of the Ivorian – is understood to be a great admirer of Bamba’s leadership qualities and has identified him, alongside the midfielder, Marlon Pack, as one of the Cardiff players who could have successful careers in management.
It is also claimed that Bamba – whose Cardiff deal expires after his 35th birthday, next summer – is held in high esteem throughout the club, including within the Bluebirds’ boardroom, and has recently taken a more hands-on approach in training, after helping out at youth-team level.
The French-born player moved to the Welsh side after his Leeds deal was cancelled early, at the start of the 2016-17 season.
He has gone on to play 101 times in Cardiff colours, scoring 10 goals and achieving one promotion to the Premier League.
