Newcastle United already look short of options in attacking midfield, even with Siem De Jong in their squad.
According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United are willing to allow Siem De Jong to leave this summer, but they surely wouldn’t be open to the Dutchman’s departure unless Rafael Benitez knew another number 10 was coming in.
Newcastle have reportedly decided that De Jong can leave, but that decision makes little sense unless the Magpies have more creativity set to be added.
Newcastle already have a shortage of options in attacking midfield, with De Jong competing with Ayoze Perez for a place behind the striker.

And unless Newcastle can bring in another play-maker, then De Jong’s departure would leave Benitez’s creative options looking very short.
Perez has shown flashes of quality, but there are questions over whether he is consistent enough to be a regular starter in the Premier League.
As a result, Benitez’s decision to place De Jong up for sale appears to be an intriguing one.
And it may just suggest that Newcastle have a deal in the pipeline to bring in a new creator in the near future.
