Sheffield Wednesday could look to appoint Steve Bruce as their next manager should they decide to replace Jos Luhukay.

Luhukay has endured a difficult time with Wednesday. The Owls have won just one of their last nine and are languishing in the bottom-half of the Championship table, six points above the bottom three.
The Sun on Sunday (09/12; page 57) have not suggested that the Wednesday hierarchy have already made a decision on the Dutchman’s future, but it appears that they are making plans in case he cannot turn their form around.
The Sun on Sunday claims that insiders have informed them that the Sheffield Wednesday chiefs have already met with Bruce, who is keen to get back into management following the end of his spell with Aston Villa back in October.

The report adds that Bruce is interested in the post as long as he is given the funds to rebuild the squad with several players coming towards the end of their contracts at Hillsborough.
One factor that could work against Luhukay is that The Sun suggests that Reading are also keen on Bruce. So if the former Sheffield United player-manager is Dejphon Chansiri’s first choice, then perhaps the owner may be tempted to act quickly to ensure that their Championship rivals do not appoint him first, especially as both will currently have relegation concerns.
