Could Ross Barkley be on his way out of Everton in the summer transfer window?
Ross Barkley is a very talented and promising attacking midfielder. The 23-year-old does lack consistency, but no one can deny that the Everton man has a lot of potential.
Barkley’s performances so far this season have been mixed, although in recent weeks he has played well and has found some kind of consistency.
The England international attacking midfielder has been on the books of Everton his entire professional career so far and has a contract with the Toffees until June 2018, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
The Times recently reported that the Merseyside outfit want to hand Barkley a new contract, but according to The Daily Star, he is in no hurry to commit his long-term future at Goodison Park.
“Barkley is likely to weigh up his options at the end of the season – and there will be plenty,” adds the report in The Daily Star.
“But he will also take into account the progress being made by Everton under Koeman, as they push for a place in Europe next season.”
Barkley is destined for bigger things and perhaps one day he will go on to play for a top club in England or in mainland Europe, but for now, he must be focused on Everton.
Extending his current contract with the Toffees would help him settle and enable him to work better with manager Ronald Koeman.
Everton are seventh in the Premier League table at the moment with 41 points from 25 matches.
