Rod Fanni has reportedly snubbed a move to Ibrox after holding talks with Rangers.
Rod Fanni at Marseille
According to Get French Football News, defender Rod Fanni has snubbed a move to Rangers in order to re-join former club Marseille.
Fanni, 34, spent the second half of last season on loan with English side Charlton Athletic, but he couldn’t prevent the Addicks from being relegated to League One in a miserable campaign.
Now a free agent having terminated his contract with Qatari side Al-Arabi, Fanni is looking for a new club – but he looks set to re-join one of his former employers.
Rod Fanni celebrates
Get French Football News report that Fanni is on the verge of signing a contract with Marseille, the club he left at the end of his contract only last summer.
The centre back, who can also play at right back, made more than 125 appearances for the Ligue 1 side following a 2011 switch from league rivals Rennes, and is now heading back to the Stade Velodrome having allegedly been a priority signing for manager Franck Passi.

Whilst Fanni’s move is on the verge of completion, the report adds that the veteran defender has in fact snubbed a number of clubs in a bid to make a move back to Marseille – including Rangers.
The Gers have been in the market for a veteran centre back throughout the summer transfer window, and whilst Clint Hill was signed from QPR, manager Mark Warburton still wants one more.

The Daily Record claimed last week that Philippe Senderos was undergoing a medical ahead of a move to Ibrox, but with just over 24 hours of the transfer window left to go, that deal still hasn’t been finalised.
Le10 Sport had reported earlier this month that Fanni was in talks with Rangers, and the latest suggestions of a snub in favour of Marseille would certainly make sense, which may have caused Warburton to turn to Senderos instead.
