Has a move to Scottish Premiership powerhouses Celtic or Rangers passed Mexican winger Isaac Brizuela by?

It seems that Celtic were not the only Glaswegian outfit who were keen to lure Isaac Brizuela to Scotland.
Speaking to Medio Tempo a week ago, the California-born Mexico international claimed that he could have joined Celtic in 2015 before joining Chivas Guadalajara from Toluca for a fee of £5 million (Scottish Sun).
“In the end, I don’t know if they (Celtic) spoke to (Toluca) director, but when I was in Toluca they approached me but the club didn’t let me go because Celtic didn’t want to pay Toluca’s asking price,” the 29-year-old said.
Interestingly, Brizuela went on to add that he would give serious consideration to a belated move to Scotland’s second city if the Premiership champions renewed their interest.
“I won’t give up hope. I know that I am a certain age, but I won’t give up hope that such a moment will come.”

But, according to the Mexican edition of MSN News, Brizuela was also on Rangers’ radar when he was at the height of his fame.
With ten assists and five goals in all competitions last season, Brizuela still has plenty to offer even if he has just turned 29 but it seems that a move to Rangers has passed him by with Steven Gerrard hardly short of options in wide areas right now.
Jordan Jones, the Northern Ireland international who arrived from Kilmarnock on a free, was even left out of The Gers’ Europa League squad with Brandon Barker, Sheyi Ojo and Ryan Kent also fighting for a place in the starting XI.
