Rangers goalkeeper Matt Gilks wants to leave the Ibrox outfit in the January transfer window, according to The Scottish Sun.

According the report, Gilks is frustrated at his lack of first-team action for the Scottish Premiership club so far this season.

The 34-year-old former Blackpool goalkeeper, who joined the Gers in the summer of 2016, is reportedly frustrated at his lack of playing time since the defeat to Celtic in the semi-finals of the BetFred Cup.

With Wes Foderingham having established as the first-choice custodian at Rangers, Gilks is looking to leave Rangers in the January transfer window, according to The Scottish Sun.

It has also been reported that Wigan Athletic are interested in signing Gilks from Rangers in January.

The Championship club are said to be on the hunt for a new goalkeeper and have identified the Rangers man as a potential target.

Wigan are second from bottom in the Championship table at the moment with 19 points from 25 matches, six points behind 21st-placed Burton Albion.

Rangers are currently second in the Scottish Premiership table with 39 points from 21 matches, 19 points behind leaders and Old Firm rivals Celtic, who have a game in hand.
