According to The Sunday Post, Southampton owner Gao Jisheng could prove to a stumbling for Steven Gerrard’s Glasgow Rangers in their quest to recruit Ross Wilson.

It has been reported that Rangers want to secure the services of the 36-year-old as their new director of football as a replacement for Mark Allen.

The report has claimed that talks between Rangers and Wilson – who currently works as the director of football operations at Premier League club Southampton – are at an advanced stage.

It has also been reported that while Wilson wants to take the Rangers role, the switch will depend on Southampton owner Jisheng agreeing to it.

Rangers are a massive club in Scotland, while Southampton are an established outfit in the Premier League.

Steven Gerrard’s side are at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 21 points from eight matches.
