Glasgow Rangers have been linked with what would be one of the most incredible deals of the window as the Ibrox side supposedly want to sign Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi.
Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi has been linked with a stunning move to Rangers
In what would be one of the most incredible and surprising deals of the window, the Daily Mirror is reporting that Rangers are one of the clubs that are interested in signing Chelsea’s £33 million striker Michy Batshuayi this summer.
Batshuayi has endured a largely frustrating time since his arriving at Stamford Bridge for the eye-watering fee one year ago, starting just one Premier League game with a further 19 league appearances coming from the bench.
Batshuayi wants to leave Chelsea this summer and has a host of clubs chasing him
The Mirror reports that Batshuayi is keen to leave the Blues – though it is not clear whether that would be on loan or permanently – and that Rangers are one of the sides that are apparently interested in signing the 23-year-old.
The Mirror adds that West Ham, Sevilla and Monaco are also interested in the Belgian who will only be allowed to depart if the champions manage to find a replacement first.
Is there really any chance Rangers could pull this deal off?
It would certainly be one of the most surprising transfers if Rangers were indeed interested in Batshuayi and actually managed to add him to the number of new signings they have already made during this window.
The former Marseille man ended the season incredibly well, scoring four in his final three league games of the most recent campaign, and was lethal during his final year in Ligue 1, so would undoubtedly be the kind of marquee addition that would capture the imagination at Ibrox if they somehow managed to get any sort of deal across the line.
But given what Gers fans have had to put up with over the last few years, it seems highly unlikely that any of the Ibrox faithful will be getting carried away with the speculation at this stage.
