Tottenham Hotspur were trying frantically to sign the Juventus ace yesterday.
According to a report from the Independent, image rights and wage demands were not the only thing that scuppered Tottenham’s move for Paulo Dybala.
Spurs chased the Argentine during the final three weeks of the transfer widow, and according to Italian football expert Gianluca Di Marzio, they had a £64.5 million bid accepted for the Juventus ace.
Tottenham struggled to agree personal terms with the forward, however, as well as experiencing problems with an agreement on the image rights for the player.
The Independent claims that there was another problem though.
The British newspaper suggests that intermediaries from Paris Saint-Germain sought to reassure Juventus that they wanted Dybala, should they sell Neymar.
Tottenham did make some impressive signings this summer in the form of Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon, but the addition of Dybala really would have taken them to another level entirely.
Mauricio Pochettino has assembled a mighty fine squad at Spurs nevertheless, and they seem to have all of the ingredients needed to make a real push for the Premier League title this season.
