According to The Telegraph, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is said to be shocked at how Mikel Arteta is treating him at Arsenal.

What’s the story?

Well, The Telegraph‘s update comes after Aubameyang was left out of Arsenal’s mid-season trip to Dubai during the winter break.

The 32-year-old has been told to stay in north London and train alone at London Colney as the Gunners look to offload him this month.

Even Jack Wilshere – who is not actually contracted to Arsenal – is expected to travel to Dubai with the squad.

This has left the Arsenal No.14 shocked, and he is said to be stunned at how severely he’s being punished by Arteta.

Aubameyang also had the captaincy stripped from him in December 2021, after he arrived back in London late from visiting his mother.

The Gabon international has an offer from Al-Nassr, who are willing to cover his £350,000-a-week wages in full.

However, Aubameyang has no interest in moving to Saudi Arabia, according to The Telegraph.

Arsenal may have to turn to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

If Edu doesn’t get to work before Monday’s transfer deadline, Arteta and Aubameyang may have to have quite an awkward conversation.

Arsenal have spent most of January chasing Dusan Vlahovic, who has now left Fiorentina to join Juventus.

If an alternative is not found, that would leave Arteta with Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah as his only options at centre-forward.

To make matters worse, Lacazette and Nketiah are out of contract in June, and the latter is in advanced talks to join Newcastle this month according to The Telegraph.

In that respect, if Arteta doesn’t make amends with Aubameyang, Arsenal’s chances of a place in the top four would hinge on Lacazette delivering the goods.

Should he get injured, it would be a nightmarish scenario.

Simply put, another striker has to arrive at the Emirates Stadium before Monday’s deadline, or the Gunners will be in serious trouble.
