What are Everton waiting for in regards to David Neres?

If reports are accurate, Everton need to step up their interest in David Neres – like, now.
UOL Esporte claimed in June that the Toffees were making inroads toward signing the Ajax winger.
But fast forward three weeks and the trail on the Brazilian star has gone cold – too cold if the interest is genuine.
It suggests Everton might have had a change of heart, but if a report from the Netherlands is true then the Goodison Park side must make a move as soon as possible for the £35 million-rated player.
According to AD, the Eredivisie champions have not yet received an official offer for the 22-year-old from any club, which could mean that Marco Silva and Marcel Brands have a free run at him for now.
But it’s worth noting that this is a summer transfer window and things could change rapidly, meaning that time really is of the essence here.
The longer Everton don’t make a move, the bigger the chance that somebody else will eventually and, considering that the Merseysiders need someone of Neres’s ilk, they can’t really afford to play hard to get here.
If they’re serious about the Brazilian – who has friends at Goodison in the form of Richarlison and Bernard – then now is the time to prove it.
