Newcastle United are interested in signing Jack Harrison from New York City in the January transfer window, according to The Daily Star.

It has been reported that the Major League Soccer outfit are prepared to sell the 21-year-old now instead of loaning him out for the rest of the season.

Middlesbrough, who are aiming to finish in the top six of the Championship this season and stand a chance of winning promotion to the Premier League for the 2018-19 campaign, are also claimed to be interested in Harrison.

It has been reported that Boro manager Tony Pulis hopes to clinch a deal for around £6 million and bring the winger to the Riverside Stadium.

The Daily Star has also credited Premier League club Stoke City with interest in the former Liverpool and Manchester United prospect.

Harrison is a very talented and promising young winger who has already played twice for the England Under-21 side.

The youngster, though, should not be expected to make an immediate impact, if Newcastle, Boro or Stoke sign him in the January transfer window.
