Millwall and Wigan Athletic took Pat Webber on trial from Ipswich Town last season.

According to a report by TWTD, Championship side Millwall wanted to sign Pat Webber on a free transfer from Ipswich Town this summer but they have missed out with the youngster moving to Wigan Athletic.
The report states Webber has signed a two-year deal with Wigan. Ipswich won’t receive a transfer fee, but they will be compensated if the U23 player progresses into the Latics’ first-team.
Webber joined the Ipswich academy in 2016 following a successful trial. He signed an initial two-year deal, with Ipswich taking up the option to extend his deal by another year last summer.
The centre-back was predominantly a mainstay in Ipswich’s U23 squad. However, with his deal expiring this summer, he spent time at Millwall on trial last January.
The Lions wanted to snap him up at the end of last season, but League One Ipswich were reported at the time to be keen to hold on to him as they viewed Webster as a potential future first-teamer.
The 20-year-old, however, didn’t manage to agree a new contract with the Tractor Boys this summer and he has now moved on to Wigan who also had him on trial last season.

The deal was said to be completed before Thursday’s deadline, but little has been reported on it until now.
Millwall did manage to sign one Ipswich player this summer. Goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski made the move to the Den, and he has established himself as the number one following the injury to Frank Fielding.
