Newcastle United are playing in the Premier League this season after getting promoted from the Championship at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.

It has been reported that Ashley has dropped his original valuation of Newcastle from £400m and now wants £20m less.
The English businessman bought the Magpies for £180m 10 years ago, according to The Times.

Newcastle are one of the biggest clubs in England and have a loyal fanbase, but they have not gained much success on the pitch.
The Magpies were relegated to the Championship at the end of the 2015-16 season, but they are now back in the Premier League following promotion at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.

Under manager Rafael Benitez, Newcastle have performed well in recent matches and are in good form at the moment.
However, it cannot be denied that the Magpies’ main objective this season has to be survival in the English top flight.
If Newcastle retain their Premier League status for the 2018-19 campaign, then they could then kick on and sign players who could help the team push for a top-10 finish.
