Everton could now be offered the chance to sign Manchester United goalkeeper Tom Heaton this summer.

Sean Dyche may have the opportunity to reunite with Manchester United stopper Tom Heaton at Everton.

That is according to a report from The Sun, who claim that United are interested in signing Jordan Pickford.

We can’t really see Pickford heading to Old Trafford having only recently signed a new deal at Everton.

Yet it’s suggested that United may look to somewhat sweeten the deal by offering up goalkeeper Heaton in part-exchange.

Heaton joined United from Aston Villa in 2021, arriving as a homegrown goalkeeper having come up in the Red Devils ranks.

The 37-year-old has yet to make a Premier League appearance since his return to Old Trafford and has only appeared three times in total.

United surely wouldn’t be desperate to get rid of a goalkeeper who helps fulfil homegrown quotas, both in terms of being English and being a United youth product.

Heaton also seems to be happy in his role as a backup goalkeeper at United, so we would be surprised if a move to Everton materialises.

Tom Heaton knows Sean Dyche very well

Heaton would surely be a backup goalkeeper at Everton too.

No Premier League appearances in the last three seasons doesn’t exactly smack of a first-choice goalkeeper for Everton.

Heaton trading a backup role at United for a backup role at Everton would be a huge surprise but maybe Sean Dyche can be a key factor.

200 of Heaton’s 381 career appearances came under Dyche having worked together at Burnley.

Nobody in football knows Heaton quite like Everton boss Dyche and he has hailed the stopper in the past.

Dyche told Lancs Live in 2019 that he felt Heaton had been ‘brilliant’ for Burnley and he likes him off the pitch too.

We still doubt this one will happen, but the lure of working for Dyche again may well appeal.
