According to The Mirror, Liverpool are set to announce the signing of Hull City left back Andrew Robertson when the transfer window opens – and they could yet pursue team-mate Harry Maguire.

The Reds should be seeking defensive reinforcements this summer, with left back a particular area of concern for manager Jurgen Klopp heading into the transfer window.

Alberto Moreno’s poor displays since his 2014 move from Sevilla mean that right-footed midfielder James Milner has been used as a left back this season – a far from ideal situation for Klopp.

A natural left back should be a top target this summer, and The Mirror report that Klopp has already tied up a deal for one, with a move for Hull City left back Andrew Robertson allegedly set to be announced when the transfer window.

Robertson, 23, joined Hull from Dundee United in the summer of 2014, and he has impressed for Hull both in the Premier League and the Championship, helping the Tigers win promotion last season.

This term, the Scotland international has notched one goal and two assists, and looks set for a bright future – which appears to lie at Anfield, with Liverpool allegedly set to push through his signature in the coming weeks.

The report adds that Liverpool could yet seek a double deal with Hull, as they have joined the race to sign centre back Harry Maguire amid interest from both Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.

24-year-old Maguire has starred for Hull this term, and whether the Tigers avoid relegation, he will be a top target for Premier League clubs, with Liverpool potentially seeing him as competition for Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren, as the Reds look to raid Marco Silva’s men.
