Report claims Leeds United have enquired about Nahki Wells and Nouha Dicko, but doubts arise

Leeds United allegedly submitted enquiries for Nahki Wells and Nouha Dicko – but there are conflicting reports about their interest.

According to the Daily Mail, Leeds United were interested in bringing Huddersfield Town’s Nahki Wells and new Hull striker Nouha Dicko to Elland Road – but there are mixed reports about Wells.

The Whites saw last season’s leading goalscorer Chris Wood leave the club for Burnley last week, and he leaves a huge gap in the Leeds frontline having hit 30 goals last term.

Leeds did swoop to sign Jay-Roy Grot from NEC Nijmegen last week, but with Souleymane Doukara and Marcus Antonsson offloaded to Osmanlsipor and Blackburn Rovers, more attacking options are needed.

Now, the Daily Mail report that Leeds have enquired about signing Huddersfield Town’s Nahki Wells as well as fellow striker Nouha Dicko, as they search for new strikers.

Wells, who hit ten goals in the Championship last season, has been out of favour under David Wagner since Huddersfield’s promotion, with the Terriers bringing in Steve Mounie and Laurent Depoitre, whilst Dicko has also slipped down the pecking order with Wolves following the signings of Diogo Jota and Leo Bonatini.

Both players have a history of scoring goals in the Championship, but doubts hang over whether Leeds are truly interested in Wells, whilst a deal for Dicko is now impossible after Hull confirmed a deal to sign him this evening.

Lee Sobot of the Yorkshire Evening Post took to Twitter earlier today to play down interest in Wells alongside a host of other strikers, whilst Dicko completed his move from Wolves to Hull tonight.

That would leave Leeds looking for other options in attack, with Bild claiming that Hamburg’s Pierre-Michel Lasogga has agreed a loan deal with Leeds, and Fotboll Skanalen in Sweden report that Malmo’s Pawel Cibicki has agreed to a four-year deal with Leeds, meaning two more forwards could join Grot at Elland Road.
