Could Jack Rodwell leave Sunderland in the January transfer window?

It has been reported that Rodwell has been training on his own at Sunderland and could leave the Championship club on loan this month.

The Black Cats reportedly want to offload him in the January transfer window, with the 26-year-old midfielder claimed to be earning £70,000 per week at the Championship club at the moment.
“Few clubs are willing to take a chance on a permanent deal so Sunderland will consider offers that come in for the former England international,” states the report in The Daily Mail.

Rodwell has struggled for playing time for the Sunderland first team so far this season and is playing for the club’s Under-23 team at the moment.
The Englishman has been on the books of the Black Cats since the summer of 2014 when he joined from Manchester City for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £10 million and when Gus Poyet was in charge of the club.
Sunderland are struggling in the Championship at the moment and are in danger of getting relegated to League One at the end of the season.
