The Gorleston striker has joined Ipswich Town on trial.

Ipswich Town could snap up Gorleston striker Connor Ingram from under the noses of bitter rivals Norwich City, a report in the Sudbury Mercury claims.

Ingram, who has scored 11 goals in 13 Thurlow Nunn Premier League appearances this season, is currently on trial at Portman Road, having previously been affiliated with Norwich as a member of the Canaries’ Player Development Centre.

However, the report fails to mention whether or not the East Anglian outfit have even maintained an interest in the 17-year-old, whose current side play in the ninth tier of English football.

Ingram is one of three locally-based players currently being watched by Ipswich, along with winger Max Booth and full-back Tyler French, who play for Ryman Premier League duo Needham Market and AFC Sudbury respectively.

“He’s six foot plus, quite well built and left-footed,” Gorleston manager Ricci Butler said, as quoted by the Sudbury Mercury. “He scores all sorts of goals – poacher’s finishes, tap-ins and a few extraordinary ones. His set-pieces are different class too.

“His aerial ability needs a bit of work, but he’s very skilful and his quick feet can get him out of tight areas. He’s powerful too and can push the ball past someone and out-muscle his way beyond them.

“I do believe that if Ipswich don’t take him up, then it won’t be long before someone else does.”

Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy is also keen on Dundalk winger Daryl Horgan, a previous target for Premier League new boys Burnley, according to the Irish Sun.

The Tractor Boys are currently 16th in the Championship – 14 places and 10 points behind Alex Neil’s Norwich City.

Norwich have not been afraid to look down the leagues themselves for young talent, having signed 18-year-old Ben Godfrey from York City in January.
