Colchester United’s Sammie Szmodics has been linked with Bristol City and Hull City.

According to a report by Bristol Live, Hull City have joined Bristol City in the race to sign Colchester United’s highly-rated forward Sammie Szmodics.
The report claims his contract expires this summer, although it is looking increasingly likely Colchester have exercised a one-year extension as they seek a £600,000 fee for the talented youngster.
Szmodics is considered Colchester’s prized asset after coming through the League Two club’s academy. The 23-year-old netted 14 goals this past season and seems ready to step up the leagues.
Hull’s current financial position means they likely remain behind Bristol City in the race to sign him, and it is suggested that Ashton Gate is the player’s preferred option out of the two.
The Tigers, however, are going about looking to strengthen their squad following the arrival of Grant McCann as manager.

McCann replaced the outgoing Nigel Adkins who resigned ahead of his contract expiration this month. It has been a frustrating time for Hull supporters, but now they can look ahead.
Szmodics could be a good option to link up with the likes of Kamil Grosicki and Jarred Bowen. Hull supporters, however, will be hoping links to Szmodics doesn’t signal a potential replacement for the latter.
