The Mirror has claimed that Hugo Lloris could become the next star to commit his future to Tottenham Hotspur by signing an extended contract with the club.

The Mirror does not shed any light on the terms of the prospective new contract, but hints that an agreement could be fairly imminent.

Spurs have been busy in recent times, tying down several of the men that inspired their Premier League title challenge last season – Christian Eriksen and Eric Dier have agreed new contracts recently (via Sky Sports), while the Standard reported that Dele Alli, Danny Rose and Harry Kane were all in talks over fresh terms – but there is no doubt that getting Lloris to agree a new deal would be a big statement by the club.

The 29-year-old has been hugely impressive since moving to White Hart Lane in 2012, making the £8m that Spurs spent on him (via Daily Mail) seem like one of the best pieces of business the side has done in the transfer market.

The club captain’s form was a key reason why Mauricio Pochettino’s men put themselves in the title race last season, and the Spurs boss will know that his performances could have a big say in how the side get on again this time around.

And with Lloris seemingly set to commit what should be his best years to the side, Pochettino will be extremely confident that the team will continue to battle near the summit of the division for many seasons to come.
