According to The Irish News, Rangers will have to pay as much as £2 million in order to part company with Joey Barton.
It has been reported that if Rangers cannot find grounds to sack the former Newcastle United midfielder, then they will have to pay off the remainder of his contract.
The former Queens Park Rangers midfielder’s suspension from the Gers has been extended by a week, as announced on the club’s official website.
“He signed a two-year deal in July worth £20,000 a week and, unless Rangers decide to dismiss him, Barton will demand the balance of his contract is settled before moving on,” states the report in The Irish News.
