Interestingly, a protracted transfer deal with Marseille was suggested to be the final straw for Mitchell at Spurs.

Reports in France are suggesting that Marseille are on the verge of bringing in former Tottenham Hotspur head of recruitment Paul Mitchell.
L’Equipe claim, as reported by Foot01, that the deal is nearly complete for the former Spurs man to make the switch to the south of France, with just a few stumbling blocks still remaining.
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy
There is no doubt that this move, and particularly his location will interest Spurs fans.
Mitchell left Tottenham in August and it was reported by Sky Sports that he is currently working a six-month notice period at the club. It would seem that he will take a position at Marseille when this comes to an end.
It was even suggested by The Guardian that Mitchell lost his patience with the Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy – after a Marseille deal fell apart.
Georges-Kevin Nkoudou at Marseille
Georges-Kevin N’Koudou’s deal to join Spurs was long protracted and Mitchell’s resignation appeared linked to this delay – among many other mitigating factors.
Now it seems that Mitchell may be on his way to Marseille to continue his career when his notice period comes to an end.
What a twist!
