Federico Fazio is enjoying himself at the Stadio Olimpico.

Federico Fazio will be completing a permanent move from Tottenham Hotspur to AS Roma in January after triggering a buying clause in his loan contract in the Italian capital – according to reports.

La Repubblica reported before Christmas in their print edition, as relayed by Football Italia, that the Argentine has triggered a permanent deal worth around €3.2 million (£2.7 million). The 29-year-old has been in good form for the Giallorossi – in contrast to his time at Spurs – and has featured 22 times this season.

Speaking to the press in Italy this week his agent Salva Sanchez confirmed Fazio’s happiness in Italy.

Speaking to ItaliaCalcio24 he stated:

“Federico is often playing, the team is doing well and he too. He’s very happy in the city because it is the centre of the project.

“The desire is to win a title, he feels and has the illusion that it is possible. Surely if the Roma played to a finish with Juventus for the Scudetto.

“Fazio lives in Rome with the whole family, is located in a great team and well here to the position it occupies and the importance it has.”

Tottenham signed Fazio from Sevilla in a deal reported by Sky Sports to be in the region of £8 million in August 2014 but he never adapted to English football.

After his move from Sevilla in 2014 he went on to play 32 times in his first season at Spurs.

However, the following summer Toby Alderweireld and Kevin Wimmer arrived and Fazio was no longer needed at the club. He spent time on loan at former club Sevilla and it seems he is ready for a fresh start in the Italian capital.
