According to Calciomercato, Everton hold an interest in signing RB Leipzig star Emil Forsberg this summer, amid links to Merseyside rivals Liverpool.

The Toffees have yet to make a new signing this summer, but new director of football Marcel Brands and new manager Marco Silva are expected to get to work soon.

Brands and Silva will be looking to strengthen a host of areas of their team, especially once players are sold, and a left-sided winger could be on the radar, especially if Yannick Bolasie is moved on.

Now, Calciomercato note that Everton are tracking RB Leipzig ace Emil Forsberg, who is currently featuring for Sweden at the World Cup in Russia.

Forsberg, 26, has become a star since joining Leipzig from Malmo in 2015, and he hit the headlines with a stunning record of eight goals and 19 assists in the 2016-17 season.

However, the wide man did fail to hit those heights last season, notching just five goals and four assists across the season with Leipzig, and he may on his way this summer.

Whilst Forsberg is a creative player, he could feasibly play on the left of Silva’s 4-2-3-1 system, leaving Gylfi Sigurdsson to start as the No. 10 and Theo Walcott out on the right flank.

Everton’s interest comes just days after The Express reported that rivals Liverpool have been tracking Forsberg and could move for him after missing out on Nabil Fekir, and Everton may be facing an uphill battle to sign the Swede given that they have no European football to offer next term.
