Everton are interested in signing Ezri Konsa from Charlton Athletic in the January transfer window, according to The Liverpool Echo.

It has been reported that Everton sent their chief scout, Martyn Glover, to watch Konsa in action for Charlton against Blackburn Rovers at the weekend.

The 20-year-old defender featured for Karl Robinson’s side in the Championship game at Ewood Park on Saturday afternoon.

The Addicks did not have a good time, though, as they lost 2-0 to Rovers, thanks to an own goal from Leon Best on the half-hour mark and a header from Danny Graham in the fourth minute of injury time.

According to The Liverpool Echo, Konsa is one of the most sought-after young defenders in England and are planning a move for the England Under-20 international in the January transfer window.

Charlton are sixth in the League One table at the moment with 35 points from 21 matches and are aiming to finish in the playoffs, while Everton currently find themselves 10th in the Premier League with 22 points from 11 games.

Meanwhile, former Arsenal star Paul Merson suggested on the Gillette Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports News last Saturday afternoon (1pm, December 16, 2017) that Sam Allardyce could prolongate the career of 33-year-old central defender Ashley Williams and said: “Sam’s a dream for centre-halves because he will give them protection, he will work on them, and he will make sure they are not isolated. It’s a dream. He could probably end up playing for another five or six years with Sam.”
