Everton went all out to appoint Marco Silva when he was in charge at Watford.

According to the Daily Star, Everton owner Farhad Moshiri is now having doubts over Marco Silva – which shows flawed logic on his behalf.

Watford’s poor form towards the end of Silva’s time at Vicarage Road has reportedly put Moshiri off Silva.

The Hornets won just one of their last 11 games under the Portuguese boss’s stewardship, and that has been enough to put doubt on Moshiri’s mind.

However, Everton failing to move for Silva would highlight muddled thinking from the top.

Moshiri was convinced Silva was the right man for Everton earlier this season. They went all out for him, before finding out that he was unattainable.

And if Moshiri was that convinced by Silva, surely one bad run should not put him off.

Everton were arguably behind Watford’s poor sequence of results, as the Toffees’ interest appeared to distract the Watford manager.

That should only have convinced Moshiri that Silva wanted to be at Goodison Park.

And if his mind can be changed by one poor sequence of results, then it throws up some questions over Everton’s long-term strategy.
