Everton are reportedly interested in signing Lamine Kone from Sunderland in the January transfer window.

Everton are interested in signing Lamine Kone from Sunderland in the January transfer window, according to The Sun.

It has been reported by the British tabloid that Everton manager Sam Allardyce could make a move for Kone if he can prove that he is fit.

Allardyce worked with the 28-year-old central defender when he was in charge of Sunderland and actually signed the Ivory Coast international in January 2016 from Lorient for a transfer fee reported by The Sunderland Echo to be worth £5 million.

Everton wanted to sign Kone from Sunderland in the summer of 2016 when Ronald Koeman was in charge and made a bid of £17 million, according to The Guardian, but the defender remained at the Stadium of Light.

The former Lorient star is recovering from a knee injury, and it has been reported by The Sun that if he can prove his fitness, then Allardyce could make a move for the Sunderland defender.

Sunderland are struggling in the Championship at the moment and are in danger of getting relegated to League One at the end of the season.
