According to Estadio Deportivo, Real Betis’s William Carvalho will join Leicester City at the end of this season.
The Portuguese international has been linked with a move to the Premier League for a while now. Multiple clubs have been credited with an interest in him in recent months, but it looks like it will be Leicester who will finally get him.
The report claims that Leicester will pay £22.5 million for Carvalho. 25 per cent of that fee would go to Sporting Lisbon as a part of an agreement between the Portuguese giants and Betis, which would only give the Spaniards a small profit for him.
Carvalho, a European champion with Portugal, has plenty of experience under his belt. The 28-year-old has played 360 senior games for club and country in his career; more than most of Leicester’s current players.
Do Leicester really need Carvalho?
It will be interesting to see how Carvalho fits at Leicester if the move goes through. The Foxes only signed Dennis Praet last summer and he is still below Wilfred Ndidi in the pecking order.
Hamza Choudhury is another one who can play there while Youri Tielemans has shown that he can feature anywhere across central midfield, which gives Brendan Rodgers a lot of options.

However, Carvalho is experienced in the European competitions; something Leicester will have to prepare for next season.
The Portuguese international would bring calmness to the Foxes’ midfield which is very important if they make it into the Champions League.
At £22.5 million, Carvalho isn’t that expensive an option for Leicester. There are very few players who will bring that quality and experience for that fee, which makes it a no-brainer for them to sign him, especially if his injury issues are no longer a concern.
