According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool new boy Diogo Jota indicated his desire to leave Wolverhampton Wanderers back in August.

It’s claimed that Jota told Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo that he was ready for a new challenge and wanted to leave in the transfer window.

Jota was a late substitute in the Europa League quarter-finals against Sevilla, and he was seemingly unhappy at such a bit-part role in the biggest game of the season.

Jota told Nuno he wanted something new, and the Wolves boss was happy for him to go in order to bring through Pedro Neto and Daniel Podence in his place.

Liverpool pounced, signing Jota for a huge £41million fee – and what an absolute masterstroke that looks right now.

Jota bagged a stunning hat-trick against Atalanta on Tuesday night, firing Liverpool to a 5-0 victory to continue his superb form.

The 23-year-old has now scored in his last four outings, bagging six goals in that time, and piling the pressure on goal-shy forward Roberto Firmino.

Liverpool are no doubt delighted that Jota wanted to leave Wolves and that Nuno was happy for him to go, as he appears to be just perfect for the Reds with his pace and pressing ability – and if he carries on, that £41million will look like a bargain.
