The Sun has claimed that Everton and West Ham are interested in signing Lingard from Premier League rivals United in the summer transfer window.
The report in the British tabloid has mentioned Tottenham as well as being linked with the 27-year-old.
The Daily Star reported last week that Spurs are planning to sign the England international – who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger – in a £30 million deal this summer.
The Sun has claimed that United are considering triggering the one-year option in Lingard’s contract before offloading him.
According to the report, with the attacker out of contract at Old Trafford next summer, the Red Devils want to make sure that his valuation remains at £25 million.
Smart plan
It is indeed a very smart plan from United, as if they trigger the one-year option, then they will preserve Lingard’s market value.
Even if the Red Devils cannot or do not offload the Englishman this summer, they could sell him for a good transfer fee in January 2021 or in the summer of 2021.
