A surprise report has emerged about Tottenham ace Christian Eriksen.

According to the Daily Star, Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Christian Eriksen wants parity with the club’s highest earners – and has been concerned with some of the positions Mauricio Pochettino has asked him to play this term.

Spurs have managed to tie up new deals for Erik Lamela and Dele Alli since the end of last season, with the latter now earning a weekly wage of six figures as a reward for his form.

Spurs still have some contract worries though, with Toby Alderweireld’s situation pressing, but the biggest concern right now appears to be playmaker Eriksen, whose deal expires in the summer of 2020.

The Dane has admirers all around Europe, and if Spurs can’t secure his future soon, the vultures may be circling for the former Ajax star after more than five years of fine performances for the club.

Now, the Daily Star claim that Eriksen wants pay parity with the club’s highest earners, such as Alli and Harry Kane, but has also been left unhappy with some of the roles Pochettino has used him in this season.

That would be a huge surprise; Eriksen is hardly the type of player known for rocking the boat, and his role hasn’t been all that different from past seasons with the club.

Yes, Eriksen has been used in a deeper midfield role than he used to, but he has still largely played as an attacking midfielder, with the only major difference being that he hasn’t really played on the left of midfield this term.

His fitness has been a concern, whilst Lamela has starred in attacking midfield, and it ultimately seems hard to believe that Eriksen would have an issue with where he is playing in midfield over sitting on the bench.
