According to Independent.ie, Celtic have suffered disappointment in their quest to sign Troy Parrott from Tottenham Hotspur.

It has been reported that Celtic made an approach for the striker, but he turned down the Scottish Premiership giants in favour of Millwall.

The Republic of Ireland International striker is set to join the Championship club on a season-long loan deal in the summer transfer window, according to the report.

Swansea City, Stoke City, Bournemouth and Preston North End also reportedly made offers for the 18-year-old, but the talented and promising teenager believes that he will develop better under Gary Rowett at Millwall.

Disappointment for Celtic

Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths are the two main strikers at Celtic at the moment, and there is an argument to be made that the Glasgow giants could do with another player in that position.

Parrott has made a handful of appearances for the Tottenham first team, but he is a full Republic of Ireland international and has a bright future ahead of him.

With the 18-year-old having reportedly turned down the Hoops, it remains to be seen if manager Neil Lennon makes an approach for another striker this summer.
