According to the Leicester Mercury, Brendan Rodgers is keen to sign Millwall wonderkid Zak Lovelace, who is a target for Rangers.

What’s the story?

Well, after haunting Rangers by guiding Celtic to a historic Quadruple Treble, Rodgers could be about to upset the Bears once again.

The Leicester Mercury believe the Foxes are keen to bring Lovelace to the Premier League, despite the fact Rangers have scouted him several times.

Brighton are also interested in signing the 16-year-old.

Lovelace became Millwall’s second-youngest debutant of all-time after Gary Rowett handed him a chance against Coventry City at the end of December, when he was just 15.

The Millwall boss even said that Lovelace was doing his homework on his way to the game!

At Under-16, Under-18 and Under-23 level, the teenager has scored over 20 goals for the Lions, and he appears to have a very, very bright future in the game.

Zak Lovelace should choose Rangers over Leicester

In our view, Ibrox would be a much better place for Lovelace to develop, as opposed to the King Power Stadium.

Under Giovanni van Bronckhorst, the English prodigy will be more likely to receive first-team action than he would among Leicester’s wealth of attacking talent.

That is not meant as a dig at Rangers, but with the likes of Harvey Barnes, Jamie Vardy, James Maddison, Ademola Lookman, Patson Daka and Kelechi Iheanacho in the Midlands, it will be tough for Lovelace.

In Glasgow, he is far more likely to receive first-team football in a few years, so we feel the Millwall wonderkid should ignore Rodgers.
