Barnsley’s Paul Heckingbottom is said to be interested in a move to Sunderland.

Barnsley boss Paul Heckingbottom is understood to have privately expressed concerns about Sunderland’s transfer plans, according to the Sunderland Echo.
Heckingbottom is said to feature on Sunderland’s list of potential candidates to succeed Simon Grayson, who was sacked more than three weeks ago.

And the Sunderland Echo reports he is interested in a move to the Stadium of Light, where he began his playing career in the 1990s.
Nevertheless, it is claimed the Black Cats face a fight to convince Heckingbottom to leave Barnsley, his boyhood club and the town in which he grew up.

And it is Sunderland’s January transfer plans and budget that are said to be troubling the 40-year-old.
The Championship’s bottom side spent around £1 million on players during the previous transfer window, despite bringing in more than £30 million through sales.
