According to Sky Sports, Aston Villa remain interested in bringing Remi Garde to the club – but chief executive Tom Fox wants a manager in place after the international break.
Villa are on the lookout for a new manager having sacked Tim Sherwood on Sunday, less than 24 hours after they lost 2-1 at home to Swansea City.
With just one Premier League win this season, Villa are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table, and fans want a swift appointment in order to get the club back on track as quickly as possible.
It now looks like there won’t be a new manager in place for Monday’s trip to face Tottenham Hotspur, but reports suggest Villa do have a deadline in mind.
Sky Sports report that, despite a hold-up over a deal for French manager Remi Garde, Villa remain interested in appointing the former Arsenal midfielder.
The 49-year-old wants to bring Lyon assistant Gerald Baticle to Villa Park with him, but the French club are refusing to let him leave, meaning Garde’s move to replace Sherwood is in doubt.
It’s also stated that chief executive Tom Fox wants a new manager in place by the time Villa play Everton on November 21st, giving himself time over the international break to make an appointment.
