Aston Villa are reportedly interested in Hull City manager Steve Bruce.

According to The Sun, Aston Villa will have to pay around £2 million to get Steve Bruce from Hull City.

Bruce has been in charge of Hull since 2012 and has a contract until June 2018, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

It has been reported by The Sun that the former Manchester United defender is a candidate for the Villa managerial job.

“The fee of around £2million needed to get him out of current club Hull is also not a problem,” added the report in The Sun. “Doomed Villa want a manager with experience of getting teams out of the Championship – and on a tight budget. And Bruce, 55, ticks all the boxes having twice taken the Blues into the Premier League.”

Bruce knows the Championship inside out, but the question is whether he would be interested in managing Villa.

Hull are going strong in the Championship at the moment, and there is a chance that they will gain automatic promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season.

Why would Bruce leave a Premier League club and take charge of a Championship team?

Even if the Tigers fail to get promoted, at Hull Bruce has a team in his own image and there is a structure already in place at the club.

There would be a massive rebuilding job at Villa Park in the summer, and it is going to be very tough at the Villans for any manager.
