Arsenal reportedly steal a march on Everton over the potential signing of Lille left-back.

Arsenal have sent their representative to France to negotiate the sale of highly-rated Lille defender Djibril Sidibe, according to Fichajes.

The 23-year-old is making a name for himself in Ligue 1 but it was reported by La Voix Du Nord this week that Everton had verbally agreed to lodge a £10 million bid.

With that being said, the Gunners are also seemingly keen on Sidibe – also linked with Sevilla – and Spanish outlet Fichajes claim that the North London have sent delegates to open talks over luring him to the Premier League.

Everton will be disappointed, if they are indeed interested, but Arsenal have arguably more need for a left-back than the Toffees do.

Nacho Monreal is one of the best in the Premier League, but his understudy leaves a little to be desired as Kieran Gibbs does not look good enough to dislodge the Spaniard.

Everton, meanwhile, have a number of left-backs, but Leighton Baines is 32 this year and Bryan Oviedo has endured an injury-ravaged few years on Merseyside, whereas youth options may not be developed enough.
