According to The Independent, Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos will not be returning to Arsenal again next season.

It’s claimed that Arsenal will not be pursuing a move to bring Ceballos back to North London at the end of the season.

Ceballos is coming to the end of his second year-long loan spell at Arsenal, having had his initial loan deal extended last summer.

The 24-year-old seemingly won’t be back next term as Arsenal don’t want to extend the loan or sign him permanently – but he could still be on the move.

Real believe that they can sell Ceballos to another La Liga side this summer, possibly for even more money than they could have expected out of Arsenal.

Ceballos clearly has talent, but has often struggled to turn that into productivity; this season, he’s managed no goals and three assists in 25 Premier League outings.

Mikel Arteta allegedly wanted to sign Ceballos permanently in February according to The Sun, but there appears to be have been something of a U-turn.

HIs performances have been hit and miss, and a red card in the Europa League against Villarreal really didn’t help his cause.

After two years with Arsenal, Ceballos now looks set to be elsewhere next summer, and this is another sign that the Gunners will be pursuing a big new central midfield signing this summer.
